• How can I be sure that my data will not fall in the wrong hands?
  Rhinoback™ uses military grade encryption and you are the only person with the key. Even Rhinoback personnel cannot open your files. Please see our Security Page for more information.
  
• Can the IRS or the government subpeona my files?
  They can, but they will not be able to decrypt your files without your encryption key. Since we do not have your encryption key, all that we can turn over to them are your encrypted files. Your encryption key is under your control and you are the only person who can give it to them.
  
  Rhinoback's Privacy Policy prohibits the release of customer or account information without express permission from the customer, except when required by law, to conform to the edicts of the law, or to comply with legal process properly served on Rhino USA, LLC. Upon the receipt of a valid civil subpoena, Rhinoback will promptly notify the customer whose information is sought via e-mail or U.S. mail. If the circumstances do not amount to an emergency, Rhinoback will not immediately produce the customer information sought by the subpoena and will provide the customer an opportunity to challenge the subpoena in court.
  
• I can no longer access my free account?
  Rhinoback periodically removes inactive free accounts. Please see our Free Account Removal Policy for details.
  
• What is an encyrption key?
  An encryption key is like a password to your data. Your data is scrambled using codes that are derived from your encryption key. The data can only be unscrambled with your encryption key.
  
• Is my password the same as my encryption key?
  Not necessarily. By default, your encryption key will be set to be the same as your password. However, when you create a Backup Set in the Rhinoback Manager, you are given the opportunity to specify an encryption key that is different from your password. You can get an extra level of security by specifying an encryption key that is long and has a mixture of numbers, letters, and symbols.
  
• How can I find out how much space I am using on Rhinoback?
  The easiest way is to login to your account on www.rhinoback.com and select the Account tab and then select Storage Space
  
• How can I see a list of the files I have backed up?
  The Backup Management Console provides detailed information about your backup files and settings.
  
• I have forgotten my password.
  Click on the Forgotten Password link and an email will be sent to the email address associated with your account.
  
• Why does Rhinoback need my email address?
  Rhinoback uses your email address to send you reports about the status of your backups. Your email address is also used to send your password in case you forget. Rhinoback will never sell, rent, or disclose our email address to anyone without your explicit consent. Please see our privacy policy .
  
• Does Rhinoback charge me for restores?
  No, Rhinoback allows unlimited restores. Unlike some other backup services, Rhinoback does not impose a limit on the number of restores you can perform. Rhinoback does not charge extra for restores.
  
• Does Rhinoback count my original file size against my storage allotment, or does it count the compressed file size?
  Rhinoback measures your space usage by how much actual space you are using on our storage system. If you back up a 100Mb file and it gets compressed to 15Mb, then only 15Mb is counted against your storage allocation. Many of the other online backup services count the original file size against your storage usage. Unlike other online backup services; if you have a Rhinoback account with an 8Gb limit, then you can backup as much as can be packed into 8Gb.
  
• Is Rhinoback compliant with the Sarbanes-Oxley act?
  The Sarbanes-Oxley act has requirements for data protection, security, and retention of financial data. Rhinoback is an excellent tool to help you meet those requirements.
  
• How much will Rhinoback compress my data?
  Rhinoback's compression is very effective. It is difficult to give a single answer because it depends on the type of files being backed up. Text files, Documents, Spreadsheets, email and other text based file types compress to 10-20% of their original sizes. MP3s, jpegs, mpegs and some other file types don't compress very well because they are already stored in compressed form on your computer. Exes, Dlls and other executable files tend to compress to about 30-65% of their original sizes.
  
• What operating systems does Rhinoback support?
